When someone is diagnosed with coeliac disease, or any other reason they have to go gluten free, the advice often sounds straightforward:
“Just stop eating gluten.”

Of course, anyone who has lived gluten free for more than a few weeks knows it’s rarely that simple.

Many people remove gluten from their diet and still find themselves struggling with fatigue, digestive issues, or the feeling that something still isn’t quite right. Others become overwhelmed by labels, social situations, or the sheer number of gluten free products available.

Going gluten free is essential for managing coeliac disease. But it’s only the beginning.

The Hidden Complexity of Living Gluten Free

At first glance, it might seem like the challenge is simply replacing bread, pasta, and cakes with gluten free versions. Supermarket shelves certainly make it look that way.

But a gluten free life involves much more than swapping one product for another. It means understanding things like:

  • hidden sources of gluten

  • cross-contamination risks

  • how ultra-processed gluten free foods affect your body

  • what truly nourishing gluten free eating looks like

  • how to navigate social situations confidently

Without that deeper understanding, many people feel stuck between two frustrating options: constant worry about gluten exposure or relying heavily on packaged “gluten free” alternatives that don’t always leave them feeling their best.

Why Real Food Matters

One of the reasons I opened my gluten free micro bakery and baking school was to reconnect people with what gluten free food can really be.

Not ultra-processed substitutes with long ingredient lists, but thoughtfully made food where you actually know what goes into it.

When you understand ingredients and learn how gluten free baking really works, something shifts. Food becomes less about restriction and more about confidence.

You start to see that gluten free living can still include good bread, beautiful cakes, and the simple pleasure of sharing food with others.

But Food Is Only One Part of the Puzzle

Through my work over the years, I’ve realised that most people don’t struggle with gluten free living because they lack willpower or motivation.

They struggle because no one ever showed them the bigger picture.

Questions often come up like:

  • Am I really avoiding gluten completely?

  • Why do I still feel tired or bloated sometimes?

  • How do I handle eating out safely?

  • How can I stop relying so heavily on processed gluten-free products?

These are exactly the kinds of questions that coaching helps unpack.

Moving from “Gluten Free” to Confident Living

My goal has never been just to help people remove gluten from their diet.

It’s about helping them feel confident, informed, and supported in living well with coeliac disease.

Sometimes that starts with understanding food more deeply.
Sometimes it’s about building practical routines that make everyday life easier.

And sometimes it’s simply about having someone who truly understands the journey.

A New Chapter

Opening the micro bakery and baking school has been an exciting step, and it has reinforced something I’ve always believed:

People don’t just need gluten free products.
They need guidance, knowledge, and reassurance.

That’s where coaching comes in.

If you’ve been living gluten free for a while but still feel unsure, stuck, or overwhelmed, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure it all out by yourself.
